154. Rabia De Lande Long. Changing the Complexion of Business.
Gabriella Mirabelli

Today we’re speaking with Rabia De Lande Long she is the co founder of The Monarchs Collective, a business launched to make it easier to discover, develop and promote female and BIPOC talent on corporate boards and senior leadership.

Topics discussed include:

  • Why diversity of corporate boards and senior management is not just good social policy, but also good business.

  • How the founders personal board experience, operational leadership experience and deep consulting background has informed their thinking and was the crucible for this venture.

  • Why unlocking the business benefits of diversity involve cultural change of existing board members and leadership, and not just adding diverse voices.

  • Why the addition of two diverse voices is exponentially more effective than just adding one.

  • Why the structural and behavioral changes go beyond addressing unconscious bias.

Rabia De Lande Long works at the intersection of business strategy, organizational effectiveness, and leadership. She collaborates closely with her clients to improve business outcomes by aligning strategy, structure, culture, and leadership at the company, team, and executive levels. Rabia has earned a reputation for expediently framing challenges, developing and implementing efficient and effective solutions, and managing change to drive measurable performance improvement.

She serves as a trusted advisor to significant players in a range of industries (technology, financial and professional services, pharmaceuticals, and media/entertainment) in the US, Europe, and Asia.

In 2020, Rabia partnered with Debra Lee, former CEO & Chairman of BET Networks, to launch The Monarchs Collective, which specializes in diversifying corporate boards and leadership ranks. They seek to make it easier to discover, develop, and deploy extraordinarily talented women and people of color by working with companies to be more intentional in their efforts to recruit and optimize talent and with candidates to be more prepared to assume new roles.

Rabia also serves on the boards of directors for Charity Navigator, United Hebrew of New Rochelle and on the advisory and editorial boards of The Principal Post.
