COVID-19 is in the headlines again. Infection rates are growing exponentially. Even with a vaccine on the horizon, it will be some time before everyone is vaccinated and life can return to usual. In addition to mask wearing and social distancing, the critical way to support the economy is through a program of comprehensive testing and robust contact tracing.

Loud-Hailer is a technology company that was founded in 2014 to push the limits of Bluetooth technology to enhance real-life experiences. In April the company pivoted to leverage its technology in order to provide a cutting-edge contact and facility tracing solution.

Our Guest, Jack Chen, is the CEO and co-founder of Loud-Hailer. He and his team are working to get everyone safely back to work.

Topics include:

  • The Ah-ha moment that led him to see an opportunity to pivot his business.

  • How Loud-Hailer’s technology empowers businesses, protects employees and helps to get the economy back on its feet.

  • The difference between contact tracing and facility tracing.

  • What California’s new regulation AB 685 requires of businesses and the challenges it creates.

  • How the new Biden administration may change the Federal Government’s response to COVID.

  • How to manage contact tracing in environments where cell phones aren’t allowed.

  • How businesses in different sectors should be thinking about contact tracing.

Jack Chen is the CEO and Co-Founder of Loud-Hailer, a mobile-centric communications solution specializing in proximity capabilities, such as contact and facility tracing. They have pioneered a solution that ties together the requirement for contact and facility tracing into a single mobile application. As the co-author of a patent on two-way Bluetooth communication and with more pending, he works on product and business development, helping to drive the company’s vision, strategy and growth. Most recently he has been studying how businesses can reopen and stay open safely during these challenging times by deploying contact and facility tracing solutions. Jack received his BA from Columbia College in NYC and his legal degree with honors from Fordham Law School.

Loud-Hailer is a technology company that was founded in 2014 to push the limits of Bluetooth technology to enhance real-life experiences. In light of COVID-19, the company pivoted its flexible technology in about one month and now offers a cutting-edge contact and facility tracing solution. Loud-Hailer’s contact tracing solution is part of the official reopening plan of the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Ohio. Their technology also supports other uses and has been deployed from coast to coast. For example, they are part of the Working Cities initiative in Newport, Rhode Island, which is funded by a grant from the Boston Federal Reserve Bank. Working Cities is looking at how to use technology to bring economic opportunity and advancement to disadvantaged areas, and Loud-Hailer has an installation in the North End of Newport where residents can get information about jobs, COVID and local events through their system.
